The Brief
The Naples Museum Of Military History is a non-profit military museum located at the Naples Airport in Southwest Florida. The museum houses more than 10,000 military artifacts from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars. The museum was in need of a new website where visitors could get information about the museum, location and hours as well as serve as a way to gain supporters.
Our Approach
Right away, we planned a visit to the museum's space in the Naples Airport to get a feel for the variety of artifacts that span not only decades but numerous wars and all branches of the military. We took photos of many of the artifacts and displays for use on the website and met the docents who had some amazing stories about various pieces in the museum.
We organized the content in an easy-to-navigate manner. The "Visit" link in the navigation brings you to information on visiting the museum (location, map, hours of operations). "Explore" showcases photos of artifacts and exhibits to give visitors a glimpse of what they will see. The "Support" page shows multiple ways someone can support the museum whether they donate money, an artifact or volunteer their time as a docent. "About" gives visitors a run-down of the history of the museum and how it got its start while the "News & Events" page displays the latest happenings at the museum or related news articles.
The Result
The Museum now has a professional place online where visitors can learn about its history, the types of artifacts available to view and upcoming events as well as location and hours of operation information.
